Bellarmine Wines is an excellent small producer, making single vineyard wines from grapes grown at their picturesque vineyard bordered by the Lefroy River and 100-year forest in Pemberton. The vines are grown on red gravel laterite soils, which provide excellent drainage and absorb heat, leading to strong root system development and high-quality fruit. Bellarmine makes three styles of riesling, pinot noir, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. A premium, cool-climate shiraz is added to the range in certain vintages, showing that in the right years it is a variety that works well in this region.
